Two other teams
of Singapore adventurers, who are trying to climb Mount
Xixabangma in Tibet, have also reached their own milestones.
David Lim, a
former Everest partner of Khoo Swee Chiow, went for a summit
bid at
Xixabangma on Monday morning.
Unfortunately, tough terrain compounded by bad weather conditions
forced him
to turn back after reaching 7,600 metres.
Meanwhile, another three-man team led by
Dr Robert Goh, who are attempting
to climb Xixabangma in the more challenging alpine-style without
pre-fixed
ropes or oxygen, are making acclimatisation climbs. They are
on target to
make their summit bid by mid- to late May if the weather holds.
Lulin Reutens, Spokesperson for the
team, said "Once there's a good window
in the weather, they will then make their summit bid and this
is the thing
they have been training for - climbing up alpine-style, carrying
everything
with them - 35kg bags without any help."
