With over 600 research scientists and
engineers in 13 Centres of Excellence, DSO National Laboratories
is Singapore's foremost applied R&D institution. Our expertise
spans a broad spectrum, from aerospace to underwater acoustics
and cyberspace. Combined with the flexibility and responsiveness
that DSO enjoys as a company, these capabilities enable DSO
to create integrated and innovative solutions that meet the
unique requirements of our customers, and sharpen their technological
edge.
DSO
National Laboratories is proud to sponsor the communications
equipment as well as the communications support for the expedition.
The communications system that DSO will be sponsoring is an
adaptation from another system that has been tested in one
of DSO's previous projects. It will enable the Xixabangma
Expedition team to have near real-time communications - including
video/audio communications - with Singapore.
Said Quek Tong Boon, CEO of DSO, "We are proud that one of
our researchers, Dr Robert Goh will be leading the expedition.
His dare to dream and dare to do spirit reflect the culture
of boldness that we are inculcating amongst our researchers
in dreaming and experimenting with new ideas to push the frontiers
of technologies. What is more special about this expedition
is that this time round, we are also sponsoring his team with
a technology that we have tested and adapted from one of our
previous projects."

We don't test the bounds of reality.
We set them.
Twenty-five years ago, a technology
company looked at a product and saw an opportunity. The result
was an innovation, a motocross handgrip with a unique orbicular
design. The company was Oakley. It began a legacy of seeking
out problems and solving them in ways that redefine product
categories. This discipline requires an unyielding drive to
defy convention and invent a better solution. It is based
on three fundamentals: Find opportunity. Solve with technology.
Wrap in art.
Today, that passion generates product prototypes in SLA liquid
laser tanks. It sculpts in the virtual world of CAD/CAM engineering
and renders innovations with 3-D digital mastering. New generations
of performance products have been developed at the forefront
of technology, Oakley's California research and production
facility, where the product of science is art.
