Preparation & Training

The Route - New Frontiers

The proposed route of the expedition is the northern route which was pioneered by the Chinese in 1964. The climb will gain the Northeast ridge of the central summit to an altitude of 7,700m. A ground decision (based on local conditions) will be made either to take an avalanche-prone traverse towards the main summit (original Chinese route) or to continue along the ridge towards the central summit.

The climbers will acclimatise on the mountain to prepare for the alpine climb. In the summit bid, they will climb to the summit from base camp, carrying all food, logistics and equipment with them. There will be no pre-established camps; instead, they will have to pitch tents, which they will carry with them.
